February Summer Gardening Advice
Get Gardening
A summer check list for your garden!
Vegetables
With everything ripening it’s a great time preserve or freeze excess produce. It is also time to start thinking about planting autumn/winter crops. You can now sow seeds of winter vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, beetroot, spinach, carrots and leeks. As some summer crops are harvested and pulled from the garden consider filling the bare areas with green crops such as mustard or lupin ready to be dug in later in spring.
Flowers
Remove the dead heads of old flowers and look out for pests and diseases that may need to be sprayed for. As the soil temperature begins to cool heading into Autumn you can also consider planting your spring bulbs.
Herbs
Keep planting last summer crops.
